History and Architecture of Birla Temple
As an epitome of mesmerizing architecture, this monument is built with red sandstone and has many beautiful and soul-wrenching deities in the premises. The focal point is the pillar which is inscribed with the preaching of lord Krishna that he gave to Arjuna during the Kurukshetra war of Mahabharata. One can clearly witness the 18 chapters of Bhagavad Gita inscribed on this pillar beautifully. The temple is home to the deities of Lakshmi Narayana, Ram-Sita and lord Krishna at the center. The most captivating beauty of this temple in Mathura is the beautiful chariot of Lord Krishna, that instantly attracts attention of the visitors.
The Mathura Birla Mandir was built by Jugal Kishore Birla in memory of his parents and the entire Bhagavad Gita, which is inscribed on the pillars of the temple. This large temple is built of red sandstone and is considered as a product of skilled craftsmanship. The marble walls hold paintings of gods and goddesses. The entire area of Gita Mandir is maintained well to serve a serene ambience to the pilgrims.
