History of the Temple
Madan Mohan Mandir, one of the oldest temples in Vrindavan, holds a significant place in the hearts of devotees. Built in the 16th century by Shri Sanatan Goswami, a prominent disciple of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna, known here as Madan Mohan (the Enchanter of Cupid).
The temple’s history is deeply intertwined with the spiritual heritage of Vrindavan. It is said that the deity of Madan Mohan was discovered by Sanatan Goswami in a forest near the Yamuna River. The temple was later constructed with the help of a wealthy merchant, Ram Das Kapoor, who was miraculously saved by the deity during a stormy voyage. The current structure of the temple, standing tall on a hill near the Yamuna, showcases exquisite architecture and offers a panoramic view of the holy town.
Darshan Timing
Visitors to Madan Mohan Mandir can partake in the divine darshan (viewing) of the deity during the following times:
- Morning: 5:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Evening: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
It is recommended to check for any changes in the timings during festivals and special occasions.
