History of Nidhiban

Nidhiban, also known as Nidhivan, is one of the most mysterious and revered places in Vrindavan. It is believed to be the sacred grove where Lord Krishna performs his nightly Ras Leela with Radha and the gopis. The name “Nidhiban” translates to “Treasure Forest,” and it is considered a place of immense spiritual energy and divine presence.

According to legend, the trees in Nidhiban are believed to transform into gopis at night, and it is said that no one should stay in Nidhiban after sunset, as the divine play of Krishna and Radha is considered too sacred to be witnessed by mortal eyes. The site also houses the Bankey Bihari temple, where a small idol of Radha and Krishna is worshiped.

Nidhiban is open to visitors during the following times:

Morning: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Evening: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Please note that Nidhiban is closed after sunset, and visitors are not allowed to stay in the vicinity due to the sacred nature of the place.

By Road: Vrindavan is well-connected by road. You can take a bus or hire a taxi from nearby cities like Mathura (12 km), Agra (70 km), or Delhi (160 km).
By Train: The nearest railway station is Mathura Junction. From there, you can take local transport to reach Nidhiban.
By Air: The nearest airport is in Agra. For international travelers, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport is more convenient. From there, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Vrindavan.
